I have been informed of a few corrections to my math. One is that due to the way things go, a higher percentage of my readers would be interested in a Japanese class, thus the percentage of the class that had potential to be one of those 17 ARC readers is slightly higher. Problem is, I don’t have any hard numbers to change those figures with, so we’ll leave it as such for now. The other point that was made is a good one. While we can assume that the chances of me meeting one reader in class is about 3%, as you add more students to that equation, the change in probability is actually exponential. Instead of a 1% probability, we actually come out with a 0.00081% chance of meeting 4 readers in class. Those odds sound a lot more correct to me. :) So, yeah. Freaking bizarre.
