I want to personally apologize to those of you this morning who had to deal with the redirect that was taking you to a malware site. We recently took on an advertising client who, apparently, surreptitiously inserted this redirect code into the flash ad. Needless to say, I’m outraged and feel completely taken advantage of, but I am also extremely embarassed that you folks had to deal with this. I would ask that you not block my ads in response to this – I have pulled down the offending ad and will be replacing it tonight with a gif version, (I mean – that ad is for GameFly. GameFly’s awesome, and I have no problem advertising them – but the intermediary advertising agency we went through was at fault here) and I have learned that I need to double and triple check these ads… I wasn’t noticing the problem until today, and the ad had been up for 2 days. Advertising is one of our main sources of income, and I take that very, very seriously – I flat out refuse pop up ads, (I have turned down an extremely large amount of money from a company who was interested in running pop-ups a few years ago) and will be dealing harshly with any company who attempts tactics like this again. I will not sell out my readers for the sake of a buck, and I just want you to know that I am very sorry that you had to deal with that this morning.
