So in case you hadn’t heard, we had a little get-together out at River Bend Park on Saturday! We had burgers, played cards, and threw lots and lots of objects at one another. Also, we threw them into trees!
That was pretty much the theme of the afternoon. We had four frisbees, a “foxtail” softball, a nerf football, and a kickball. By the end of the day, EACH of these objects was stuck in a tree at least once. Sometimes right next to each other. Sometimes, one would get stuck in the tree while we were using it to get something ELSE out of a tree. What I’m trying to say here is that these were some asshole trees. That’s why I chose to use one of their own ex-branches as a javelin to attack them!
Okay, so maybe I was just using it as a tool to remove a nerf football, but still. Now, the kickball was actually the first casualty, due to a kick by Ben, and it got stuck no less than forty feet in the air, cradled in the branches of a relatively tall tree. At some point, I get it in my head that I MUST REMOVE THIS BALL FROM THE TREE. Ever resourceful, I get a half-full water bottle and start lobbing it up into the tree.. though I pulled a muscle at some point and had to sit out, but others took up the cause! And that’s when VIDEO started rolling!
All in all though, a great time was had by all. We ended up leaving somewhere around 6 or so, so it was a good long afternoon. We’ll probably try to do this kind of thing more often in the near future, so stay tuned! And if you’re in the Sacramento area, come to the next one, for god’s sake!
