At approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 18, my 21″ NEC MultiSync 6FGp monitor passed away. All attempts at resurrection failed. That monitor has served me well for over 6 years – it’s the monitor I’ve had the ENTIRE time I’ve been doing Real Life. It was my buddy…. my 72 lb. buddy. And it is no more.

The MultiSync is survived by a computer that loved it very much. It even acted as a father figure to the family’s adopted son – the 15″ Active Matrix LCD screen on my Dell Inspiron 1100 notebook computer. It’s always hard to see families torn asunder.

I don’t have time to deal with the issue now, though – we’re pretty much hauling ass after work to get to the airport, so we can fly to Vancouver for Anime Evolution. Hopefully we’ll be able to sell enough there to afford a new monitor on our return, ’cause we can’t really afford one otherwise. The monitor that died was for my gaming PC… I shudder to think what a prolonged lack of monitor will do for me.

This is, by the way, the same monitor that was shown on the front of the first RL book, as well as in the various pictures of my room and whatnot I’ve taken over the years. It’s odd how attatched I got to it, even though in reality, it was a MASSIVE pain in the ass. It almost discouraged me from going to LAN parties, just because it was so damned heavy. NEC really knew how to make ’em.
