In Memoriam

Earlier today, my mom called to tell me that my Grandfather had passed away late last night.

It didn’t come as a surprise – he’d been dealing with Parkinson’s for probably over 10 years, and the last few have been rough. Yesterday, he slipped into a coma, which is apparently something that happens in the last stages of the disease. He went peacefully in his sleep.

What really gets to me is that Liz and I were headed out to California on the 15th to visit my family (as well as do Dollectable and Comic Con), and see my grandma and grandpa. Now we had to change our tickets to the 13th so that we can be at the memorial. I know it was his time, and I’m at peace with that. I just would have liked to have seen him one more time.
