Panel 1
Harper: Oh, WOW! The beach is so pretty!
Mae: Yep! That’s why they call it “Glass beach” - a long time ago, the people who lived here used the beach as a dump and just threw all their trash here, including a lot of glass.

Panel 2
Harper: Wait, really?
Liz: Yep. And over the years, the ocean waves broke up the glass and wore it down and turned it into all those little pieces of colored sea glass.

Panel 3
Harper: I’m gonna go find some good pieces to bring home!
Liz: No, you need to leave it there, sweetheart. If everyone took some home with them, eventually there wouldn’t be any more left and the beach wouldn’t be as special.

Panel 4
Harper: But… it’s trash though, isn’t it?
Mae: Yes, but it’s legally protected trash.
Liz: If you’re expecting the world to make more sense as you get older, I have some bad news.
