Panel 1
Mae: The thing I can’t get over from driving around this part of Mendocino is that, like, people actually LIVE here. A small town this beautiful, and folks just straight-up live in it.
Liz: You’re adorable.
Panel 2
Mae: What are you talking about?
Liz: Mae, take it from someone who grew up in South Lake Tahoe, a bona fide Tourist Town: Almost NOBODY lives here.
Panel 3
Mae: What do you mean? There’s houses all over the place! We’ve seen at least a dozen that we both drooled over!
Liz: Do me a favor: Look around and notice the number of houses. It’s a small town, right? Maybe 100? 150?
Mae: Yeah, I suppose…
Panel 4
Liz: How many vacation rentals did you see when we were looking for places to stay?
Mae: ...god DAMMIT. Tourists ruin everything.
Liz: That was actually our senior class motto in high school. we even had it on the t-shirts.
