I has a coffee grinder.

So yesterday, Liz was driving up to her convention in Austin when she called me to let me know that a house here in town was having an estate sale, and I should go check it out. Sounds good – you can usually find some pretty neat stuff at those kinds of things for a decent price. We got a beautiful set of hand-carved nesting tables many years ago for $75 that I’m SURE are worth at least ten times that much.

Anyway, I get there and it’s mostly kinda stuffy old junk, but then in the corner, I notice this little orange thing in the corner, and I recognize it immediately.

Yessiree, that’s a Krups Model 223 “Coffina” coffee grinder, circa ~1976. All for the low-low price of $4. You might wonder why this piqued my interest. Well, this particular coffee grinder also went by a different name: Mr. Fusion.

This is the same coffee grinder (granted, the model they used was white) that became the Mr. Fusion prop for Back to the Future. They’re not easy to find – an ebay search for Krups 223 came up with one listing for $75.

All I need now is to get it painted white and then slap some decals on it, and before you know it, I’ll be generating 1.21 gigawatts. :) I’ll try not to prevent anyone from being born.
