The way things are gonna run around here

As can be gleaned from the fact that comics are once more rolling off the digital presses, I am now safe and sound in Lockhart, Texas, beginning the arduous task of unpacking and turning this shell of a house into an actual home.

This also means that I have technically begun my career as naught but a cartoonist. I say technically because I don’t REALLY consider that to be the case until after I get some of these other obligations taken care of and off of my plate, to the point where I can actually begin working on NEW comic-related things. But all that aside, the fact remains that I have foregone the safety net of a day job in order to pursue this as a career.

Needless to say, I’m terrified.

I AM excited, though. While things look grim for this month, that mainly just because it’s immediately following the biggest, most expensive move I’ve EVER made. Things should hopefully begin to settle down, and some of the funds we’ve been waiting for should roll in, and we’ll be fine. So I’m trying to keep my chin up and just keep moving along.

One of the things I’d like to do, now that I’m basically doing this full-time, is to start making this rantspace a daily thing again. I can’t guarantee it, because circumstances don’t always allow for it. But dammit – I’m tired of it being weeks between posts. That’s just crazy. I should be able to log on and share interesting or amusing stuff with you guys – that’s what I enjoy doing. And dammit, I intend to.

I also plan to share stories and photos from the move and from around here in Lockhart – we’re settling into small-town life VERY nicely. To start things off, here’s a flickr stream of the “Dickens’ Christmas in Lockhart” celebration they had here this weekend.

Anyhow, I’m now off to get some more stuff done around the house. The mountain of things that still need to be done is overwhelming. I’m fairly certain we didn’t have this much stuff when we moved out… I think other people must have gotten into our truck and loaded their stuff on it.

Maybe there’s valuables in it. That would kick ass.
