Stealth merchandise GO!

So, I figured the best way to drop new merch on you was just all stealthy-like, with no warning or anything. Thus, the first Real Life poster in years surfaces on the sly!

I spent the best part of a week working on this, until it was to a point I was finally happy with it. It's printed on 100lb aqueous coated paper - and it's huge at 24" wide by 36" tall. If you for some reason don't remember the storyline invoked in this poster, head here and keep reading. :)

The greatest part? There technically IS no preorder period for these bad boys! They're ordered and paid for, and will be ready by this coming monday (the 21st). Online orders won't ship until the 4th of August, though, as we won't be back into town until then.

Why did I specify ONLINE in the order part of that sentence? Because if you want to get your hands on one of these sooner, they're going to be debuting at Comic Con International next week! So stop by booth 1300 and grab one... and say hi to us and the rest of the Blank Label cartoonists while you're at it!

...but come back Tuesday, as I resume a normal schedule. We've been traveling pretty much all day today, and I'm 2 hours behind, now. I'm spending this evening working on the remaining part of my grandfather's eulogy for the memorial tomorrow, (We're doing it out on a beach in Pacifica, which is where my grandparents lived from 1952 until just a few years ago. It's always been sort of a second home for me, since we spent a lot of time there while I was growing up.) and then I am hitting the sack. It's definitely good to be back in California, though. It's weird - it almost feels like we never left. Go fig.

In Memoriam

Earlier today, my mom called to tell me that my Grandfather had passed away late last night.

It didn't come as a surprise - he'd been dealing with Parkinson's for probably over 10 years, and the last few have been rough. Yesterday, he slipped into a coma, which is apparently something that happens in the last stages of the disease. He went peacefully in his sleep.

What really gets to me is that Liz and I were headed out to California on the 15th to visit my family (as well as do Dollectable and Comic Con), and see my grandma and grandpa. Now we had to change our tickets to the 13th so that we can be at the memorial. I know it was his time, and I'm at peace with that. I just would have liked to have seen him one more time.

Diablo III

So, unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past few days, and that rock SOMEHOW had no Wi-Fi ('cause let's face it - mother nature is big on broadband), you know that Diablo III has been announced. More than just announced - there's a whole site with gameplay footage, a trailer, screenshots and everything. As you'd know by reading the comic years and years ago, I'm a HUGE fan of the Diablo series. I even had a brief tour of the Blizzard north offices years and years ago when they were working on the Diablo II expansion. Blizzard and me - we go way back. In a way.

So anyway, I found it ESPECIALLY cool when I was watching the gameplay footage (which you should definately do. The way they've made the environment look and act is GORGEOUS) and got to the part where the Barbarian rescued Deckard Cain. Especially when you read this comic from waaaaay back in 2001. Now, maybe it's a coincidence... but I think not. :) You can decide for yourself.

Yes, this is a late comic post. Thankfully, not too late, though.... I'm feeling like poops, and bed needs to be.. um... gotten to?

In any case, I'm up at around 8 AM these days, so I'll be working on it in the morning, and should have it up... earlyish. :) No specifics, but it'll be as soon as possible.

Comic Con International; Original Sketch Auction!

Well, Comic Con is only a little over a month away, so I guess now is probably a good time to officially announce that I AM INDEED going to be at Comic Con this year. As in, tickets have already been purchased, hotel arrangements have been made. It's HAPPENING, people. This is going to be my first year back in THREE YEARS. That's a lifetime. :D I'll be exhibiting with the rest of the fine folks over at Blank Label, so it's going to be a bad-ass time. I'm incredibly excited. (Also, assuming I get things in a row, I might actually be debuting a product there... in ADDITION to the Shirt Ninja figurine... but that's another post.)

To help matters some on the funding-the-trip front, I've decided to put some original art up for auction... namely, the four comic sketches used to make the four action-oriented comics in the Murphy's Law Assault storyline back in February. All the details can be found at the ebay page, but also note - it includes high-quality prints of the ENTIRE storyline (10 comics) along with the sketches, so it's quite a nice bundle deal. Check it out, and help me schlepp my butt out to Comic Con! :D
