A brief note on my absence this week…

Hi Guys! I just wanted to pop in while I had a minute and let you know that, no – I haven’t forgotten about you! I HAVE however been stretched unusually thin this week, so I haven’t really had an hour or two during the evening with which to make a comic, sadly. It’s been kind of a bummer, to be honest. But the projects I’ve been working on are all very worthwhile, so I gotta do it.

I MIGHT have tried for a comic last night…. but man, lemme tell you. This kid. THIS KID. As the current comic shows, we recently converted Harper’s crib over to a toddler bed. She dictated the change, really – she’s able to climb up on to her changing table, so it’s not like the rail did MUCH. The downside of this, however, is that when she used to wake up for some small reason BEFORE, she might stand up on the side of the crib and whine for a minute to see if we’d come (and when we didn’t, she’d just lay back down and go to sleep)… NOW she’s able to get out of bed, open the door, and call for us. And turn on her light. And get into all sorts of other mischeif. We can manage only so much of it (disable the light switch, put a baby gate in front of the door), but some nights like LAST night, she decides at 3 AM she’s going to start this cycle… and then just doesn’t quit it. Long story short, last night was the first actual sleepless night I’d had in years. I may as well be a zombie.

I know she’ll grow out of it eventually, but it’s crazy frustrating while she’s doing it. Blerg.
