Dave: So this is kind of interesting... Popular Science has officially disabled comments on all of their articles. They felt the rampant trolling and negativity was detracting from the goal of furthering discourse on scientific subjects.

Greg: Wow... that’s kind of a bold move. What are people saying about it?
Dave: Who knows? There’s no comments!

Greg: Don’t get me wrong, I hate internet commenters more than anybody, but doesn’t this send the wrong message for a field that depends on the concept of peer review?

Dave: I’m pretty sure scientific peer review doesn’t come in the form of a snarky guy who lives in his parents’ basement and didn’t actually read the whole article.
